When we think God is impressed by our efforts at being law keepers, we become oppressive legalists and end up missing the whole intent of God’s good law. 

The Law is holy and good, but is not a hammer with which to pummel people, nor is it a shackle with which to bind people; it is our guide to love others as ourselves. But, we need new hearts to live out the intent of God’s Law, hearts only God can give us—Kingdom Hearts.
