Disharmony, division, separation, and divorce all undo something that was good or which could be a healthy, godly union. By the time a divorce happens division in a relationship has already occurred. It’s our unfaithfulness to each other, in whatever form, that God is concerned about.

Sexual unfaithfulness tears apart a marriage of souls and can do more emotional, spiritual damage to a relationship than just about anything else. This is what we need to understand: It is our unfaithfulness to each other which precipitates divorce that God wants us to own and deal with.

Divorce divides what God has joined together. It is not his design for marriage, but in order to avoid greater harm, he allows divorce when an unfaithful, hard heart will not soften. Divorce is not the unforgivable sin! God can redeem and rebuild anyone. And he will if we are willing.
