Jesus is a new, unexpected kind of king bringing a new kind of kingdom to earth. He refuses to be our kind of king and will not establish our kind of kingdom. Even so, he bids us enter his new kingdom of love as his willing subjects who follow him, a gentle warrior whose honor is in his humility and whose glory is in his death. Though he will not be our kind of king, will we yet be his kind of followers?
