Message Monday 10/15/18 – Parables For The Jesus Follower: The Rich Fool

Chuck Foreman – Teaching / Missions Pastor

Are you intentionally generous?

We are close to the heart of God when our first thought is to share our excess with someone in need.

Jesus pulls no punches in dealing with greed, which we often mask as an entitled cry for justice and what we presume is due us, in The Parable of the Rich Fool, Luke 12:13-21.

His jumping off point is this statement: “Watch out! Be on your guard against all kinds of greed; life does not consist in an abundance of possessions.”  (Luke 12:15)

And according to Jesus, when we think that’s what life is all about we become the epitome of the man in his story who was the very definition of a fool.

Question: Are you a hoarder or a giver, a bigger barn builder or a sharer of God’s blessings?

BIG Idea: Beware of greed in yourself. Life does not consist in the abundance of your possessions! Giving to God—intentional generosity toward those in need—is the only way to insure that you will have what you need. Become a giver not a hoarder!
