God’s messenger, the angel, told the terrified shepherds: “I bring you Good News that will cause great joy for all the people.” We like Good News. So did they. A shepherd’s savior had been born!

But Good News does not always come without cost. This part of the Xmas Story tells how Mary, the mother of this Savior, receives a strange blessing which foretells the cost of this Good News. 

“This child is destined to cause the fall and rising of many in Israel,
and to be a sign that will be spoken against,
so that the thoughts of many hearts will be revealed.
And a sword will pierce your own soul too.”

When you come face to face with Jesus, he will give you an opportunity to rise with him or fall away from him, to be with him or against him. He will reveal the thoughts of your heart— your true colors— in vivid HD.

He is the Good News—or is he? His cross—your cross, is the cost of this Good News. Will you carry it this Xmas?
