When God, the Creator, entered into his creation as Immanuel, he entered into it fully. He experienced birth, life and death for us.
And he made sure that no one was left out of his story.
Gentiles, men and women have indispensable roles in God’s Story. We are all included by God and can know him intimately—just like Anna.
She was one on whom the spirit of God had been poured out upon, mentioned by the prophet, Joel:
“And afterward, I will pour out my Spirit on all people.
Your sons and daughters will prophesy,
your old men will dream dreams, your young men will see visions.
Even on my servants, both men and women, I will pour out my Spirit on those days.”
(Joel 2:28-29)
She was a watchman (woman :)) mentioned by Isaiah:
“Listen! Your watchmen lift up their voices;
together they shout for joy.
When the Lord returns to Zion,
they will see it with their own eyes.”
(Isaiah 52:8)
And she knew Jerusalem needed a Redeemer:
“Burst into songs of joy together,
you ruins of Jerusalem,
for the Lord has comforted his people,
he has redeemed Jerusalem.”
(Isaiah 52:9)
