Message Monday 1/13/20 – Like Jesus: Like Jesus At FCC

Chuck Foreman – Teaching / Missions Pastor

  1. Comefollow me, and I will make you those who fish for people.” -Jesus (Mark 1:17)

The 4 Challenges of Jesus/4 Stages of Growth:

  • Come (lost)     (Choose me, believe in me!)
  • Follow Me  (believer)  (Live for me, do what I do!)
  • I will make you (worker)  (Let me change you, transform you, help you grow, give you work/purpose!)
  • People Catcher (disciple-maker)  (This is who/what I want to help you become.)

We’re all at one of these stages. Where are you? What’s the next stage of growth for you?

  1. Acts 1:6: “Lord, is this the time that you’re going to make Israel great again?” The disciple’s politics was still their religion. They still couldn’t see what God wanted to do on this earth—bring his will & Kingdom to earth, a Kingdom soooo much greater than Israel—or America, a Kingdom where God’s people work to solve the big problems of our world with love and intelligence, not just parrot popular thought about them. A Kingdom of love, acceptance, safety & peace.

  1. Acts 1:11: While we wait, we have work to do—a lot of Good Work! But some of us are still standing around starring into the sky. Or perhaps we’re still in Jerusalem, same old life, no real power of the H.S. in our lives and we don’t feel like the Witnesses Jesus wants us to be.

If you’re like me, you’re not content with the Ho Hum Life. You long to see the power of God’s Spirit in your life, and you really do want to be one of Jesus’ Witnesses—helping people discover Jesus and grow as his followers—Like Jesus did. That’s our theme this year at FCC.

LIKE JESUS

Mission: Make Disciples

Are we Helping People Discover Jesus and Grow as His Followers?

Are we Connecting people to God, Growing together and Serving others?

CONNECT—A Disciple Connects to God & Others

GROW – A Disciple Grows & Makes Disciples in relationship with others

SERVE— A Disciple Serves

BIG Idea:  Come to Jesus. Follow Him. Let him make you a disciple-maker. He will if you will.
