Dear Brothers & Sisters,

I want to encourage you to read the article here about the book and new movie, “50 Shades of Grey.” As Followers of Christ, we need to understand that what the Bible teaches about our sexuality and its fulfillment is pretty black and white. God has more in mind for human sexuality than it simply becoming about the exploitation of another who becomes a sex object rather than a human being worthy of love and protection and respect and dignity. Our own sexuality (which is a gift to us from our Creator) is only fulfilled within the security of a committed relationship. Outside of that boundary, someone’s dignity gets taken from them and their self-worth is tied to the sex they can provide rather than to their being an image bearer of God himself. (more…)

If you think you’re connected because you go to church every Sunday, I’d have to disagree. There are over 600 people on our campus on a typical Sunday morning. But how many could you reach out to when you have a need? Coming to church is the easy part. Who ya gonna call when trouble comes?

It’s that time of year again… little league baseball season is just around the corner. Time for practice, games, the smell of grass and snacks, right? One thing I love about baseball season is the feeling you get as a parent of the team. There is nothing like that first email or phone call that comes from the coach. They introduce themselves and let us know the expectation for “their team” this season. They get the family excited to be part of something bigger than ourselves! (more…)
