God’s messenger, the angel, told the terrified shepherds: “I bring you Good News that will cause great joy for all the people.” We like Good News. So did they. A shepherd’s savior had been born!

But Good News does not always come without cost. This part of the Xmas Story tells how Mary, the mother of this Savior, receives a strange blessing which foretells the cost of this Good News.  (more…)

Somehow, in 1st century Palestine, shepherds had made their way onto the rabbis’ ever lengthening list of all the people God doesn’t like—right there along with tax collectors, prostitutes, lepers, the disabled and deformed, barren women, Romans and Samaritans.

The big problem here was that the rabbis never thought to consult God about their list of all the people he didn’t like. Turns out they were wrong. They had invented a ‘god’ like themselves!  (more…)

“When the Son of Man comes, will he find faith on the earth?”

Will we still be praying for justice, for what is right to be done on earth as it is in heaven, or will we have given up?

Let’s not forget the words of Jesus here: “And will not God bring about justice for his chosen ones, who cry out to him day and night?

Keep crying out to him. Do not give up! He will hear and act!

Your life is the single most valuable asset that you posses, it is also the most significant seed that you can sow.  The opportunity to follow Jesus is as easy as a simple  yes, however, it is important to understand the cost of what that yes actually means.  As we dig deeper into understanding that yes, hopefully we are challenged to intensify what our version of following Jesus looks like.
