In Genesis 2:15 we find this: “The Lord God took the man and placed him in the garden of Eden to care for it and to maintain it.”  Many of us have understood this as our mandate as people to care for this world in which we find ourselves and which we believe God has given to us. Remember the widow’s 2 penny offering at the temple among all the rich who were all giving out of their abundance? Jesus’ comment was that she had given MORE than all the others. His point was that generosity is not reserved for the rich and influential.  You don’t have to be wealthy or famous to be generous. Generosity is a matter of your heart. Generosity is not about how much you give, but about how much you have left when you give.  (more…)

What do you think of when you hear the word justice? Does that word stir anything in you to act, or has the word been so misused that it no longer means anything to you? I have good news for you – our God loves justice and works for justice, and He wants us to live justly and to be deeply involved in the work of seeking, advocating for, and bringing justice to this world.  (more…)
